Bedtime Fun!

A couple cute pictures I took the other night before bedtime, Xander loves pointing at this picture of pooh bear and friends and naming all the animals for us before bed. You'll also notice his "eXXe" I love the way he says it, sort of drawn out like that, so sweet!

18 months!

Xander turned 18 months this month and we headed to the doctor Monday for the dread shots and checkup. He's definitely gotten smarter, even the nurse remarked how smart he was when she entered the room with the shots and he immediately freaked at the sight of them, "he's pretty smart, he knows what's coming" she said. Oh my and he did not like it. I've gotten braver thankfully, and his screaming is down to about a minute after so it's definitely better. He's doing great, which makes for a mostly boring checkup, the doctor tells me he's wonderful. He's already weaned himself off the bottle and never took a real sippy cup so that wasn't an issue, and as far as his development he's right on track and can do it all, well everything on that 4 page sheet they give you. So she said he's great, not to worry so much about giving him things like sugar haha, and the no juice thing is good.

Words of the week: "Mouse", as in mickey mouse, he LOVES mickey mouse, he likes when I show him Mickey on his diapers before he puts them on. He'll point to him and say "mouse" in the cutest little voice, and the second word, "Kick", the word he uses for Kix Cereal, his new favorite snack. I got a box this week to switch things up, I think he's sick of O's (cheerios), and he loves em. He'll sit sometimes in the morning and watch Mickey Mouse clubhouse with his little bowl of cereal, just snacking away. It's so cute, I try to snap pics but then he gets up and gets annoyed so I try not to disturb.

Note: he got in here with the blankets and cup by himself, I found him this way watching cartoons the other morning

And the word of the Day is...

SNOW!! Xander said "snow" for the first time today when we awoke to see the snow coming down like crazy, everything was white and Xander ran around saying "snow! snow!" for about 15 minutes then it was over. It melted fairly quickly, and I was a tad disappointed that the snow couldn't stick around for Xander to actually play in it or go out in it at all.

Pictures of the Day:

How I've grown! (Pictures taken over the past 11 months) Xander always loved to lay in his boppy pillow, but now he's almost outgrown it all togther. He barely fit to lay it in with his blankie for the last picture. I love the first picture the best, I can't belive he was so cute, cuddly and round, makes me miss those baby days so so much!

Big Boy!

Photobucket Today I told Xander he was getting to be a Big boy, then asked him if he could say big boy, and he did! He said (in his adorable little voice) "Big Boy!" and then gave me a kiss, Wow! I guess I shouldn't be shocked, he has been saying several new words everyday. This is SUCH an amazing age, he's like a little sponge just waiting for me to teach him something new each day. I have started keeping a list to keep track of new words or things he does, but I can hardly keep up. Here is my list just for the past few days -

He can say: 'X' for Xander, he says "exxe" drawn out a bit in such an adorable voice, and I really think he knows it's for Xander which is even more amazing to me! I have been showing him the X hanging in his room for months and he finally got it the last few weeks. I also am trying to teach him to spell his name, I show him the word on the wall and spell it out every night x-a-n-d-e-r!

He can say Star and point out any star shape

He is constantly learning to put new words together, like yesterday while reading his favorite good night Dora book he said, "nite-nite bock bock" meaning good night chicken (we call them bock bock's cuz that's the sound mommy told Xander they made and it stuck! haha), and also "nite-nite duck" and "nite-nite bird". He is learning so much and he really loves this Dora the Explorer nite-nite book, he practically has it memorized and he just got it for Christmas!

He can point to a horse and tell you it says "neigh" and owls go "whooo"

Other various words he says now: Shirt, Shoes, Socks, Clock, Keys, Airplane, Book, Apple and Ni Hao (as in Ni Hao Ki Lan haha)

The below picture's are of Xander on Monday, I took out my camera and he began to dance in circles and pose, after each pose he'd come back and look at the picture on the camera and say "Baby!", looks like we've got a little performer on our hands, oh my!

Night-Night!

The past week or two Xander has started putting together word combinations, things like night-night and more-milk. He's been saying lots of new words as well, like apple, baby (which he says so perfect, it's so adorable in his little baby voice), Map, Boots, Shoes, Socks, Blankie, Piglet, Tigger just to name a few. He has almost all of his beginner picture books memorized too, he can identify lots of animals, lots of foods, and can tell you the noises that cows, sheep, ducks, chickens, monkeys and kitties make! I'm Very Proud, but it feels like he's growing up SO fast! He has also been understanding me more, when I tell him to do something or pick up something or get ready for his bath, or it's time to go, he obey's and understands, it's really wonderful!
Although it is hard feeling like my baby is gone, and now I have a little boy. I'm not pushing it though! We did get Xander his big boy bed about a week ago, but until he climbs out of that crib he's staying put. No need to rush. But I will say depsite all my resistance to doing this early, I do think it's time to start Potty Training, Oh my! He now tells me when he's went or yucky and even has brought me diapers haha, I think he gets it. I'm not as ready as he is, but I'm starting to get prepared, reading up on techniques and looking into potty chairs, any advice is greatly appreciated on this one!

Clean-up!

My goal for this month, teach Xander to only take one book off his shelf at a time and put it back when he's done. I figured it's time to starting learning to clean up and why not start with his new bookself? So far he's got the putting books back part, but as soon as he picks up all the books he starts to pull them all back off the shelf so he can do it all over. I like that he thinks it is fun but I'm not sure how to explain that the books need to stay on the shelf. So far it's been mostly mommy putting them back, but he seems to realize now that they belong on the shelf and hasn't yet taken too many off at a time before helping me put them back.

We also have Xander's 18month doctor appointment to look forward to coming up here on the 25th, only one shot this time (thankfully!), but I'm really anxious to see how he's grown, it's been 6months.

Love my new camera!

I've been following Xander around lately like a member of the paparazzi haha, making up for lost camera time, here's a few really great one's:

Photobucket
Poor Bailey, we knew one day he'd try to ride him, it actually happened sooner than I thought. Bailey doesn't do much but lay there, he has such a great temperament with Xander.

Photobucket
Xander discovered about a week ago he can successfully climb into his wagon, it's very cute, he'll move it around the house then climb in!

Photobucket
Lastly Xander still has a deep love for hats, he can finally get the winter hats on straight and sometimes he just likes to wear a hat when playing in the house, it's pretty adorable!

I know, I know, it's been a while!

Ok so I'm not one for New Year's Resolutions, BUT I think I just made my first one, I will blog at least once a week, starting this week! (only 8 days into the new year, not bad) I'm sure all my wonderful friends and family that still check back for updates will be happy to hear this. I was blessed to get a new digital camera for Christmas this year, so I'll do my best to keep the pictures coming! Well today I only have a couple picutres to show off, they were taken on my Blackberry so they are a bit sketchy, but I am going to get a memory card for my new camera this weekend and you will be flooded with more pictures of Xander than you knew you wanted!
